Attack on Our Country and Constitution (1st Amendment)

There has been an uprising against bullying in this country which I completely agree with but we have missed the bullying of our Constitutional rights and the blatant disregard for our Constitution by the elected Democrat and Republican liberal politicians. This bullying stretches from the a small city elected position to President Obama; they will lie, twist, and distort anything and everything to limit your freedom of speech, freedom of the press, and freedom of religion. Before I say a thing, let’s take a look at exactly what the 1st Amendment says and what our Founding Fathers said about the 1st Amendment.

Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

The first area of the 1st Amendment is freedom of religion and the phrase; "no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof" is quite interesting because we now have a liberal Democrat mayor in Houston Texas throwing out a Christian petition because she doesn't like it. She is a lesbian and it goes against her desires so Annise Parker, the city’s first openly lesbian mayor, after passing a nondiscrimination ordinance in the middle of the night allowing all bathrooms to be open to any gender, people were upset. Many pastors started a petition to have it put on the ballot for the people to vote on; but Ms. Parker is a liberal and doesn't want the people to have a choice so she throughout the signatures. To add insult to illegal actions and injury she, subpoena all pastors to turn over all sermons and other pastoral communications dealing with homosexuality, gender identity, or herself; this is as illegal as it comes but she is a liberal, bullying is the liberals way and what they always do to get their way. Think about it, the nondiscrimination ordinance she just passes, she just violated; she just discriminate against religious people! What her and her liberal base is trying to do is "to silence the church". I think Sen. Rand Paul said it the best, Paul noted the First Amendment “doesn’t exist to keep religion out of government.” “It exists to keep government out of religion.” You also have what our Founding Fathers said.

Thomas Paine
When the government fears the people, it is liberty. When the people fear the government, it is tyranny.

Too many of our liberal politicians from both sides of the isle, from the president to a city council member have bent, changed, and completely disregard the rule of law and The US Constitution and our president and his US Attorney General are the worst offenders; they have changed laws on the book which is illegal if it doesn’t do back through congress for approval. Where are the Republicans, they have a direct path to the Supreme Court to push back with but I guess they need to grow a set first which is pointed out in another Founding Father quote which hits the nail on the head.

Thomas Paine
A body of men holding themselves accountable to nobody ought not to be trusted by anybody.

The second area covered in the 1st Amendment is freedom of speech. I don't care if someone says the most hateful thing in the world to you, it is covered under the 1st Amendment; this is how the Westborough Baptist Church was able to spread so much hate; like it or not, it was Constitutional. This is the same thing many liberals do; the only difference is they don't want you to do it back to them. President Obama and the liberals from both sides even passed an anti protest bill, H.R. 347, benignly titled the Federal Restricted Buildings and Grounds Improvement Act; you should look and see if your congressman voted for it. This now Law prevents your right to “petition the Government for a redress of grievances”, and is a federal offense, punishable by up to 10 years in prison; wait, it prevents what the US Constitution says is our right? Yes, it circumvents the 1st Amendment; do you still believe liberal politicians are not taking your rights? I think three of our Founding Fathers hit it on the head especially Ben Franklin.

George Washington
“If freedom of speech is taken away, then dumb and silent we may be led, like sheep to the slaughter.”

James Madison
“I believe there are more instances of the abridgment of the freedom of the people by gradual and silent encroachments of those in power than by violent and sudden usurpations.”

Benjamin Franklin
Whoever would overthrow the liberty of a nation must begin by subduing the freeness of speech.”

The last area of the 1st Amendment is freedom of the press and even though today the press is so biased in their reporting, it is still a freedom and a right; but what did the Founding Fathers say?

Thomas Jefferson
"Our liberty depends on the freedom of the press, and that cannot be limited without being lost."

Where the press is free and every man able to read, all is safe

Samuel Adams
“There is nothing so fretting and vexatious, nothing so justly TERRIBLE to tyrants, and their tools and abettors, as a FREE PRESS.”

The news organizations are not suppose to be political but keep an eye on the politicians from both side; unfortunately it isn't being done today and most news outlets are nothing but political. The press is suppose to be the watching eye of the nation, but the majority of our press are far left leaning liberals which are helping to destroy our by not reporting the truth and being the watch dog for which freedom of the press was granted. President Obama and his administration has limited the press, dozens of news organizations are protesting the White House restrictions of journalists taking pictures and video of President Obama. Press groups urged members to stop using official photos and video supplied by the White House calling them "government propaganda." I have to give the very bias liberal press kudos on this one because they balked at the idea and did what was right; unfortunately they don't do what is right often enough.
