Over the past few years, the American people have really turned against unions. The question is why and will the unions learn before it’s too late for them. Many of the unions I do think are good unions and will make the adjustments to survive but many of the larger unions will I believe, die a long and horrible death, what they don’t see is it is all of their own doing. Their failure to protect the American citizen, greed, power, corruption, vigilantism, and the failure to protect the employers footing the bill from bad actors is what has got them into this debacle.
Do you remember Hurricane Hugo? When it hit Charleston SC it destroyed Charleston and left hundreds of thousands without power. Power companies from everywhere, including New Jersey and New York came down to South Carolina to help us get back on our feet. South Carolina is a non-union state but welcomed union and non-union workers alike to help our citizens get back to living, the extra money they would make from all the overtime didn’t matter to us, we were just grateful. Within three months everything for the most part was back to normal. Do you remember Super Storm Sandy? When New York and New Jersey was hit by Super Storm Sandy on 29 Oct 2012, the workers from South Carolina and several other non-union states went to return the favor to the New York and New Jersey people for letting us use their workers during Hugo. When our workers and equipment arrived in the area, they were told to either join the union or they couldn’t work; all I know of turned around. Over a year and a half had past and they were still trying to get everything fixed, do you think the unions cared about the New York and New Jersey people or making more money? Just so you understand, Super Storm Sandy was a Category 3 hurricane but hit New York and New Jersey as a Category 1 hurricane, Hugo hit Charleston as a Category 5. The New York and New Jersey people should not have had to suffer like they did, especially with winter coming but the citizens can thank the unions.
Yes the unions are greedy, and when you have a healthcare union like Service Employees International Union ripping off the common citizen trying to take care of their disable or dyeing family members for political reasons, it really puts a bad taste in the people’s mouth. They were forcing low-income people receiving state substitutes who were taking care of disable or dyeing family members to pay union dues, calling it "agency fees" calling them state employees. Luckily in a June Supreme Court decision, Harris vs Quinn, the justices ruled 5-4 that they were not state employees and cannot be forced to join unions; the question is why would the unions and Democratic politicians of Illinois do this to the people? The answer is greed from both the unions and the Democratic Party; this section can cover greed, power, and corruption. You can see the unions and Democratic Party both trying to gain more power because they are greedy and corrupt but the Republicans have their own problems as well.
Most unions from big cities are usually under Democratic control and get the world. Detroit was paying it’s city workers well above the average with free health care and not having to contribute a dime to their retirement. This was unsustainable and when Detroit filed for bankruptcy, they last 25% of their pension and must now contribute to their health care. I do not blame the workers for this but do blame the unions for pushing it to this point. As we speak, the International Longshore and Warehouse Union are crippling our economy with a strike even though arbitrator has ruled it illegal. The average income in America is around $52 thousand with the average Longshore worker bringing home $142 thousand, the only reason they want to strike is for more money. They make almost three times the average American citizen, and with everyone hurting the unions don’t care.
I also said vigilantism and again you can look at Wisconsin if you want one example. The AFL-CIO try to strong arm the small businesses to support unions using mafia style tactics and threats, but this is common for AFL-CIO. AFL-CIO violent past is well documented and with the anniversary of the AFL-CIO goons murder of Joe Hooper 39 years ago, one would have hoped it has changed since then, but it hasn’t. A man in New York was shot by a member of AFL-CIO for running a non-union business. In Michigan, the union destroyed a black man’s hot dog cart while yelling racist slurs, why, because he was selling hotdogs to “Right to Work” people. He didn’t care about politics; he was just trying to make a dollar, but this is how many union are, just thuggish entities.
The unions destroy companies and in fact, destroy jobs along with it. Before we get started, here is a little math problem. If a company can spend $320K to spend on employees with a normal wage of $40K, how many employees do you have? 80. If a company can spend $320K to spend on employees with a normal wage of $45K, how many employees do you have? 65. So after you minus $25 dollars a week dues you have now effectively only make $3700 while having to pick up the pace for the missing 15 people. The fact is, it will never happen so now the employer is paying the same for 15 less employees and it just goes downhill from there. I have a friend who owned several businesses and the union came knocking at one. He told his 300 employees who he paid well above the national average that he could afford the union, he told them they could do what they wanted but he was there to make a profit and if the union was voted in and he couldn’t live with the arrangement, he would just shut down the factory. They voted in the union, the union made outrageous demands, and one month later he closed the factory. They went to the union which said they hadn’t been members long enough for them to do anything.
Unions were good when they first started and even today there are many good unions, the problem is instead of being for the workers as they once were, they are for their own pockets and a political agenda no matter how destructive. You have unions defending pedophiles, rapist, murders, and in many cases, just worthless workers who don’t care about doing the job; but instead of doing what is right and booting them, they keep them as long as they pay their dues. Unions use to take care of the employees but helped keep good employees to help the business grow so they would get more dues, now they just want dues no matter how much the business suffers but they don’t realize, they are cutting their own throat.
First, when I say liberals, I’m not saying Democrats because you have liberals in both parties, that being said, you have some other problems on the conservative side as well.
In the 1930s we started to fall on bad times because of the liberal agenda, FDR was president and with every liberal act he tried we just fell further and further into a hole. The only thing that got us out of the hole of the Great Depression was WWII, some say FDR knew about the pending Japanese attack and did nothing. I don’t know if it was true, many liberals back then, unlike today, had class, honor, and dignity. One of FDR’s best friends was Sir Winston Churchill. He was a leader who along with FDR helped defeat evil and one of his quotes is my favorites.
“Those who fail to learn from history are doomed to repeat it.” Sir Winston Churchill
In WWI we found out that we were not prepared for war, nothing had ever been seen like this war which was on every corner of the earth. After it ended, what a smart country would do is invest in its military to be prepared in case the next war was happening and stop any radicalism in its tracks, but this didn’t happen. In 1934 Hitler started showing his intent to take over the world by military force even though at the end of WWI, the Treaty of Versailles which Germany signed demanded Germany disarms. We could have squashed him but we followed the liberal mindset of talk will work. We could have prepared for the upcoming war but we let our military collapse into disarray by cutting it and not replacing obsolete equipment. Col. Billy Mitchell predicted exactly how the Japanese would attack Pearl Harbor and was Court-Martialed for upsetting the elitist hierarchy. On December 7, 1941 Pearl Harbor was attacked exactly like Billy Mitchell had predicted, we had to scramble to get ready for war and lost massive amounts of Americans due refusal to see the truth, not having the military adequately trained, and putting the military in obsolete equipment because FDR and his predecessor had cut the military. Why do I tell you this?
After WWII we partly learned our lesson but when Vietnam War happened, we let the liberal elitist once again be in charge with a new twist; politicians were telling the military how to fight. We should have had a line like every war before including Korea but no we went to FOBs (Forward Operating Bases); take the land from the enemy then give it back. We should have let our military go for broke but no, we told them they could attack the enemy’s strong holds. America’s deaths was staggering until President Nixon who just won the Presidential election let the military do their job and the war was over in short order;. You need to ask yourself a question; did we learn?
The answer is no, we didn’t help one of our allies and Iran which was westernized fell to the radical Islamist, in the process they captured 52 hostages and held them for 444 days. There was one failed rescue attempt which failed because a liberal president (President Carter) put a liberal bureaucrats in charge instead of a military leader which ended up getting 8 military members killed but to liberals, the military doesn’t matter. Once a non-liberal was in the president’s seat, the hostages were immediately released but we had lost one of our strongest allies in the region; but did we learn. We did learn for a short time and when Desert Storm happened we kicked but, we had the best equipment, best training, and the best morale the military ever had but the liberals in congress was raising hell so we stopped short. We only lost 146 people, we set a country wide perimeter, in short it was done right except we didn’t finish it; but did we keep it up or falter?
For the next 8 years the military was gutted again, equipment was obsolete, and the military was allowed to be murdered indiscriminately by radicals with no response from our president but once again, he was a liberal. By being complacent we allowed our enemy to attack us at home on 9/11, we shipped out the troops with obsolete equipment and many of us were killed. We lost 4,425 troops and we hadn’t learned. We didn’t have the proper equipment, we were fighting from FOBs again, but at least the politicians were not telling us what to do. The new president set out to get the best equipment we could but it was going to be hard to get up to speed after eight years of gutting the military. We were doing all we could to protect out military, well until 2006 when congress went liberal and in 2008 when we elected the liberal president. We have had more deaths in Afghanistan under President Obama due to him having micro managing and having liberal bureaucrats making military decisions instead of the military. None of these bureaucrats ever served their country just as President Obama never served his country and have no idea about the military. When our best military leaders stand up to them to try and save military lives, they are forced to retire.
We have not learned and the fate of our county depends on it, Radical Islam is our enemy yet our president will not even say the word. We have 300 Marines facing 30,000 ISIS/ISIL radicals and our president won’t even send in reinforcements. Will the American people have enough when they see our active duty US Marines being beheaded on YouTube? The FBI director say ISIS/ISIL is in 49 of our 50 states with active investigations on them, it’s partly because we won’t secure our borders and once again, liberal politicians turn a blind eye. What will the liberals do if they are in charge and ISIS/ISIL cuts off someone’s head in America? Radical Islam is attacking all who aren’t Muslim all across the world and our president says it is just random acts of violence. The liberals politicians have no idea how to fight and protect, just belittle and lie, the problem is many citizens who never check out the evidence believes their lies due to laziness or denial; when ISIS/ISIL comes knocking at our door, the liberal politicians will surrender.
First, when I say liberals, I’m not saying Democrats because you have liberals in both parties, that being said, you have some other problems on the conservative side as well.
Why is everyone making such a big deal out of Brian Williams lying about being shot down in Iraq, Hilary said she was taking sniper fire in Bosnia which was a lie as well; both are glory hijackers, but you also have Bill Clinton saying he didn’t have sexual relations when he did. The truth is the liberals don’t believe the rules apply to them. If you want a good example, just look at Jesse Jackson threatening to file suit on behalf of a Little League team caught cheating, Jesse says it’s because they are black. If you want another good example, look at Al Sharpton, he owes millions in back taxes to the IRS, but if it was me or another common person, everything we have would have been seized but not him. The biggest problem with liberalism is when it becomes ingrained in an institution, as we have seen with the IRS and EPA, they will be used to target any groups who go against the liberal philosophy. When you get them in the school system, they will try and brain wash your children and at the universities they will tell you their opinion are the only ones that matter and if you go against them, you will be failed. What we call liberal today is actually leftist and in many case socialist, liberals are:
Liberals think they know better then you what is best for you, they trample on every right you as an Americans have, and the rules only apply to you, not them. Take a look at Al Sharpton or even a better look at Presidents Obama’s illegal relatives in the US, Zeituni Onyango and Onyango Obama, the latter of which was arrested for a DUI, failing three sobriety tests and blowing a 0.14, almost twice the legal limit yet he was released from jail with no charges. If that would have been any other common person like me, what would have happened? The rules don’t apply to liberals, if they did then Michelle Obama would have made private schools, or at least the one her children are in, follow her school food mandate, but no, she is another liberal hypocrite. Or you can look at R. C. Soles who was an anti-gun senator from North Carolina but shot a burglar in his home with his gun but again, he is a liberal. If you want to see arrogance at it best because liberals think they are better than anyone else, look at Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber who was caught awarding contracts to his fiancée or at Senator Feinstein who pushed for a billion dollar train project in California which was then awarded it to her husband.
Detroit Michigan was the model to follow for the perfect liberal city, its structure and foundation were laid in the late 1950s and because it followed the cancer of liberalism, it led to the destruction of a once beautiful city. No other group but liberals ran it so they have no other group to blame; the mayors and city council members who believing in their liberal entitlements did nothing but bleed Detroit dry with their liberal corruption and ran off most of the business due to their liberal over taxation. I only have one question to ask, will the people in these areas learn from this, or are we doomed to repeat history again?

This column contains everything there is to know about economics. Hereafter it will be possible to shut down university departments and stop talking about Keynes and the Austrian School, to the great relief of mankind. In gratitude you can send me your children's' college funds.
In 1850 people all lived on farms and grew food, which they ate. Eating was really important to them. They liked eating. There was in 1850 tremendous demand for refrigerators and cars, but people didn’t know they wanted these things because they hadn’t been invented. Anyway, they didn’t have any money to buy them with.
Yet the demand was there, crouched to spring. Much demand for almost everything, but little supply.
Then farming automated and people all went to cities to work in factories to make refrigerators and cars, which had been invented. These weren’t as important as food, but they were pretty important. People had a little money now, and bought them. You don’t need advertising to sell what people actually want.
There was lots of demand and getting to be pretty good supply.
Soon the factories were spitting out more than anyone could use of everything that anyone could reasonably want. A family needs only so many refrigerators. Here we encounter the first crucial problem of the modern economy: too much supply and not enough demand.
Yet the factories had to make stuff so people would have jobs, and the people had to buy the stuff so they could keep having factories. Economics is thus the study of the squirrel wheel.
To keep people working and buying, the economy began making things that nobody really needed or would think to want, such as nail salons, electronic gadgets, and designer jeans. To get people to buy these things, the supply of demand had to increase. Advertising came about to manufacture demand for things that, without advertising, no one would buy. Consequently society now depends for existence on pop-ups, singing commercials at twenty minutes to the hour on television, billboards, and Google ads. Advertising thus became more important to the economy than anything it advertised.
Labor followed a similar pattern. When factories came, they needed lots of people to make the refrigerators and cars. Most work involved digging holes or lifting heavy objects, so the workers didn’t have to be smart or know much.
Then came the rolling disaster that economists don’t seem to have anticipated: automation. As factories produced the increasingly trivial goods that supported the economy, they needed fewer and fewer workers to make the trivial goods. This raised two questions: Who was going to buy the $450 running shoes that nobody needed except that advertising told them they did, and how were the workers who didn’t have work making them any longer going to get money to buy them? Or to eat?
It became obvious, except to economists, that automation could do just about everything people were paid to do. Just now, someone has invented a burger-maker machine that will presumably replace hundreds of thousands of burger-flippers who aren’t needed anywhere else. Self-driving vehicles approach practicality, and will first replace long-haul truckers and then cabbies and delivery truck drivers. Much worse is in the offing. Here is the second crucial problem of modern economics: Where to put unnecessary people?
The Theory of Increasing Uselessness
A search continues, long quietly underway but now intensified, for ways to keep off the work force people for whom there is no work, or no real work. These are not necessarily lazy, shiftless, or parasitic. They just don’t have anything to do.
Child-labor laws and requirements that people finish high school helped diminish the labor force. Then society told the young that they all needed to go to college, when most of them didn’t, and since the universities served chiefly as holding pens, the quality of education dropped. Universities did however employ professors and administrators. Here was another example of selling at high price something that no one really needed, namely the appearance of education.
Swollen bureaucracies popped up to provide the appearance of work while the purported workers did little that would not better have been left undone. Military enterprise soaked up more people doing nothing that should be done. Exotic fighter planes that would never do anything to justify their existence but bomb remote goat-herds absorbed thousands of engineers and hundreds of billions of dollars. The engineers could as well have been paid for digging holes and filling them in, but this was judged unduly candid.
Finally even these measures ceased to be enough. College graduates began living with their parents and lining up for jobs a Starbucks because there was no need for them anywhere else. Resort was had to outright charity. Thus food stamps, Section Eight housing, free lunches at school, AFDC, and all the other disbursements of free money. Those receiving the free money no longer had any incentive to work even if the opportunity offered. In the cities generation after generation now lived on charity, largely illiterate and in what is never called custodial care. They are simply unnecessary. There is nothing for them to do. So they don’t do anything.
In America this is usually a state of mind rather than an economic condition. The allegedly poor have all their time free, a luxury not available to the indentured drones who pay for this leisure. The poor have enough to eat—gobbling Cheetos instead of real food is their choice—and they have access to libraries and parks and museums. Graduate students at the same economic level used to live a life of books, music, illicit substances, and good conversation. The recipients of charity are not economically poor, but mentally empty.
Meanwhile an elaborate and highly effective system developed for sucking the very bright young from every cranny in the country and sending them to the remaining good universities: SATs, GREs, National Merit, ACT, and suchlike. Here the top two percent in intelligence partied, married, and made babies, not always in that order, and went into brain-intensive trades like Silicon Valley, i-banking, and medicine. As the middle class sank into the lower-middle, the brain babies increasingly formed a thin layer of dominant if not always morally impressive intellects at the top of society.
Increasingly aware of each other thanks to list-serves and web sites for the very smart, they foregathered internationally with their own kind, eschewing contact with the surrounding sea of slugs. (I will bet you are not reading this on a site where the comments are misspelled.) They prospered. Nobody else did. The battle lines were being drawn. Which brings us to:
The Minimum Wage
Conservatives (I think its liberals) harbor the curious notion that people will work if they don’t have to. This is because to them work, real actual work, is an abstraction with which they have no familiarity. Real work is usually unpleasant or boring. But to economic theorists, work means being a cardiac surgeon, talking head, columnist, or CEO. Thus they say that if we eliminate the minimum wage, black youth (these are always given as examples) will rush to labor for a dollar an hour, learn the trade, rise, and become CEOs. Horatio Alger and all that.
This implies two things: First, that anyone in his right mind would spend eight hours a day flipping burgers for a pittance when he could live on charity in leisure at the same standard, and second, that any employer in his right mind would want to hire semi-literates with bad work habits when, given our current endemic unemployment, he has a choice of much more educated and dependable workers.
In short, if the minimum wage were abolished, the bottom rungs of society would remain unemployed because their labor isn’t worth enough for them to live on, or worth anything at all. The bottom rungs creep upward. When almost everybody is unemployed, we will have to institute communism manque: "To each according to his needs and, from each, nothing much. I will then write The Theory of the Leisure Classes: A Study in Urban Chaos."
There you have it, all of economics in a small package. Buy survival gear.
When we talk about the terrorist arm of the Islamic religion there are a couple of realities the whole world, including the Muslim world, need to come to grips with because they are fact. Most murders and atrocities in the world are committed by Muslims following the Islamic faith. Most of the ethnic cleansing is committed by Muslims following the Islamic faith, most of the physical, and psychological attacks on other religions are done by Muslims following the Islamic faith all in the name of Allah. If you read the Quran and follow Shariah Law you will find that murdering, enslaving, raping, honor killings, and deception are all allowed for the good of Allah. Islamic and Muslim are synonymous in most cases but you do have a very small percentage of Muslims who do not follow the Islamic teachings of the Quran, many of which are of other faiths and if caught will be put to death by people of the Islamic faith in honor killings.
We watch as our world at one point calls them “Freedom Fighters” and at the other calling those perverters of Islam; in my mind freedom fighters do not purposely kill the innocent children; I do have some questions to ask our Muslim leaders of the world. When are you going to lead your people out of the Dark Ages? When are you going to lead your people to a better life away from genocide, mutilation of females, slavery, hatred, and honor killings which have no honor? More innocent people are murdered in the name of the Islamic religion than all other religions combined. More Muslims are killed by Muslims then all non-Muslims combined; you are massacring your own people. More Muslim women are raped by Muslim males then all other religions combined. In most Muslim countries, if the women claims she was raped and points to the perpetrator, these countries don’t use a DNA test to find the truth, they stone (murdered) the adulteress (rape victim) for dishonoring (telling the truth) the family.
We think we have allies from Islamic countries and some may be, but when funding for terrorist is coming from the Royal Saudi Family, are they really are allies? Our leadership in America refuses to call terrorism what it is, terrorism, instead calling it “Man Made Disasters.” While thousands are openly murdered by Islamic terrorist including a Jordanian pilot burned alive, Japanese reporter who was beheaded, and 13 teens shot to death for watching a soccer game, our leadership shows no leadership, just puts forth callas disconcertment which the whole world sees. If this wasn’t bad enough, we have Janet Napolitano and President Obama giving a terrorist Secret Clearance into our intelligence network. President Obama meets with Muslim leaders but refuses to tell us who they were; if you have nothing to hide, why are you hiding it? Our current leaders is key positions refuse to call terrorist what they are, terrorist, and refuse to fight them even saying the Taliban isn’t terrorist. The White House refuses to call the Taliban a terrorist group even though they act, threaten, and kill like terrorist. In an ABC story, White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest stated, ““They do carry out tactics that are akin to terrorism. They do pursue terror attacks in an effort to try to advance their agenda,” but “they have a different classification.” Fox News is under fire for showing parts of the Jordanian pilot’s execution but every citizen in America needs to see it because we are returning to pre-9/11 mentality and it is going to be deadly.
